NIRVANA fans may get a special treat later this year. Sources close to the family of NIRVANA lead singer Kurt Cobain say Cobain's extensive journals, which he kept throughout his life, are making the rounds in New York publishing circles. "Kurt's family is trying to publish a book based on his writings," said one source. "There are lyrics, drawings, essays about his career plans for NIRVANA, updated lists of his favorite records, and extensive writings on drug use, the media" and the band's history. The book could boost Courtney Love in her fight against bandmates Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic over control of the group's legacy. Love maintains Cobain was its creative force, and that she, as his widow, should be in charge. "There is a lot of interest," says our source. "Kurt was remarkably insightful, funny and complicated. This book will be a primer for all young rock musicians and an education for everyone who thought they knew him." James Barber, representing Cobain's estate, is negotiating with publishers.
